Epicentre Patient Information Portal for breast cancer There is evidence that patients access information about their disease and choice of treatment from the internet. However, this process can be both time consuming and confusing, sometimes raising udue concerns. The portal provides access to trusted websites agreed with an oncologist and a medical ethicist. A substantial proportion of the available information may be accessed without loging in.

During a forthcoming clinical trial, individual patients will be provided with a user name and password and the site will automatically be tailored to show relevant information to them, for instance regarding appropriate therapy. As the system develops, further personalisation will be introduced, potentially as far as prognostic outcome guidance already derived from mainstream statistical research in Biopattern, but currently intended for use by clinicians.
